About

I have had a paintbrush or a pencil in my hand since I was a young child. In fact, I still paint on the wooden easel my dad bought me after winning an art competition at the Cumberland Science Museum when I was five years old. Similarly, historical investigation has been a passion of mine since childhood. My education and training in history and archiving has greatly influenced my art, as I often draw on an antique aesthetic, especially through timeless lettering and sign painting. Family coats-of-arms, monograms, and drawings of homes each utilize my historical research skills to create custom, hand-drawn symbols to be printed on stationery, napkins, or to hang on the wall. Likewise, my background in the arts has equally influenced my career in archives, as conservation and preservation of materials requires an artist’s attention to detail.

As a native Nashvillian, my hometown has also provided me with inspiration for my art. I grew up on the side of the stage at the Grand Ole Opry with my mother and grandmother, both make-up artists, and I have a great appreciation for the unique character of this city. My mixed-media Nashville skylines incorporate Nashville’s history through collage of the Nashville Retrospect paper. From beautiful old homes and buildings, to the music this city has produced, much of my artwork is a reflection of the city I call home.
